Office Overview Our office is a specialty practice providing consultative services in the areas of diabetes and endocrinology ONLY. We require that all patients have a primary care physician. We do not practice general medicine. Appointments New patient consultations and follow-up visits with a member of our staff are by appointment. Extended time is allotted for each patient appointment. If you are unable to come to your scheduled appointment, we require a 24-hour cancellation notice so that this appointment time may then become available for another patient. A $50.00 fee will be charged if 24 hour notice is not given. We cannot diagnose new problems over the telephone. To insure the highest quality of care, we recommend a scheduled appointment to address your needs in an efficient and timely manner.
Insurance Most PPO's are accepted. We also participate with Medicare and Champus/TriCare. Two HMO's - BCBS Health Options, and United - are currently accepted in our office.
Referrals If you have Cigna or BCBS Health Options HMO: You Must have a referral and authorization from your primary care physician prior to being seen. Authorizations are usually provided for a specific number of visits and/or covering a certain time period (for example, three visits between November 1, 2007 and February 1, 2008). Referrals are your responsibility. We often have to re-schedule visits as your primary care physician is unable to provide a same-day referral.
Prescriptions Since your medical record is necessary in order to phone in prescriptions, refills will not be called in on weekends, holidays or after normal business hours. We ask that you check your prescriptions prior to your appointment so we may assist you with prescription refills. There is a 48 hour turn around for prescription refills. If you have missed an appointment your prescription may be denied.
Billing Know your insurance benefits. Please call your insurance company first if you have questions regarding a bill from our office. Be sure to get the operators name and a reference number when you talk to your insurance. If you still have questions call this office and ask for Kerri who is our billing expert. |
